Science Bridges
The Science Bridges are a cooperation model that was established by Forschungszentrum Jülich in the context of science diplomacy to allow systematic collaboration across subjects with partners in emerging and developing countries. The Science Bridges cover multiple topics and primarily aim to foster long-term scientific collaboration, to create a sustainable pedagogical training programme, and to implement a profitable knowledge and technology transfer. Alumni also play an important role, since they already know the science shared by the institutions having previously been doctoral researchers or postdocs and can continue this research in subsequent projects. In addition, they are ambassadors for Forschungszentrum Jülich and the participating universities.
Palestinian-German Science Bridge - PGSB
The Palestinian–German Science Bridge is a pilot project for developing a joint research and education programme in Palestine jointly implemented by Forschungszentrum Jülich and the Palestinian Academy for Science and Technology (PALAST) with funding from the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).
Andrea Grego is the contact person for questions concerning the Palestinian–German Science Bridge. She coordinates the cooperation at the content-related and organizational levels together with scientific director Prof. Ghaleb Natour.

Georgian-German Science Bridge – GGSB
The Georgian–German Science Bridge brings together the collaboration of seven subinstitutes at Forschungszentrum Jülich, RWTH Aachen University, and a consortium of five Georgian universities. The cooperation is based on joint research projects, student training (lecture weeks as well as master’s dissertations and doctoral theses), and knowledge transfer in the form of SMART|Labs, which are headed by early-career Georgian scientists at the host universities. GGSB receives a significant share of its funding from Georgia itself (Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia).
