Second ‘Jülich Biotech Day’ at Forschungszentrum Jülich

Jülich, 7 October 2013 – Bread, cheese, wine, beer: for thousands of years, people have exploited the metabolism of microorganisms to produce these. Today, they use the same approach to help produce chemicals, feed additives, and pharmaceuticals from renewable raw materials. At Forschungszentrum Jülich and Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf, scientists and engineers are working together to gain a better understanding of the metabolic activities of microorganisms and the properties of enzymes, to selectively modify these, and to use them for new products. During the second ‘Jülich Biotech Day’ on Friday, 11 October, internationally respected scientists and representatives from industry will come together to discuss research as it stands today and its industrial implementation.
