BioökonomieREVIER: Innovative Agriculture Cluster Receives Further Funding

Jülich, 7 December 2021 – When BioökonomieREVIER was founded at the start of 2020, 15 innovation labs were also established. Within the process of structural change in the Rhineland region, they aim to enable a rapid transfer of new, bio-based processes from different areas of research to economic application – all based on sustainable principles. Thomas Rachel, outgoing Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Education and Research and member of the German Bundestag, recently presented a grant notification totalling € 10 million in the presence of Dr. Dirk Günnewig, State Secretary at NRW’s Ministry of Culture and Science. This means that six of the labs will continue to receive funding for up to five years as part of the innovative agriculture (InnoLa) innovation cluster. The funding comes from the Federal Government’s programme for structural change in the lignite mining districts. The BioökonomieREVIER initiative based at Forschungszentrum Jülich represents a central measure for shaping structural change through science-based innovations.
