Pedestrian Experiment: 1500 Volunteers and Helpers Needed

Jülich, 18 August 2021 – The research project CroMa is looking for 1500 volunteers for experiments with pedestrians, which are scheduled to take place on 8–11 October in the Mitsubishi Electric HALLE in Düsseldorf. The experiments were originally planned for March last year, but had to be postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. Thanks to the necessary hygiene concepts, they can now take place. Scientists from Forschungszentrum Jülich are working in the CroMa project together with their partners on concepts that can be used to improve safety at overcrowded train stations, for example during rush hour or after large public events. Minimizing bustling crowds not only reduces the physical risks but also the risk of infection, as has been clearly demonstrated by the coronavirus pandemic.
